Livestock Manager

The Farmer (Livestock Manager) position supports all aspects of the agriculture project at world End Farm with specific focus on the health of the livestock program (sheep, chickens). Worlds End Farm is the home to a collection of farmers, craftspeople, artists and educators. We collectively carve out lives and livelihoods through careful attention to land stewardship and relationship management within the myriad of delicate ecosystems that thrive here. This Farmer position will be specifically responsible for maintaining the wellbeing of livestock and tasked with the integration of the livestock program into other areas of the farm including our educational, culinary and textile programs.

Specific Responsibilities:

Year-round management of Icelandic sheep: pasture management/intensive rotational grazing, vetting, breeding, selling stock, organizing culling and shearing, managing freezer space for meat, curing pelts, overseeing wool production, ordering materials (minerals, hay, etc) as needed.

Year-round management of poultry: maintain laying hens, feeding, monitor egg production, etc.; seasonally order and raise two rounds of broiler chickens, oversee culling and processing

Seasonal help with vegetable and flower production: Assist in the greenhouse and field production of cut flowers and vegetables

Must have min. 2 years experience working with sheep.
Must possess EXCELLENT communication skills.
Very flexible schedule, very flexible holiday/time off.
$20-25/hour, based on experience.
